Legian is located in the Kuta district and is north of the center of Kuta and just South of Seminyak. Legian is similar of Kuta although it is not as crowded and generally a little less hectic and a little more relaxed. Legian beach is essentially the same beach as Kuta beach although like the rest of the Legian area, the beach is quieter and less crowded with the exception of the double six area where there are many restaurants, bars and clubs. Legian is halfway between Kuta and Seminyak not only in distance but also in nature and offers a mid range of accommodation and dinning some of which extends in into the Seminyak market and some of which over laps with he Kuta style. Legian hotels are generally a mix of modern hotel design and traditional Balinese styling, when you are choosing hotels in Legian, you can think of the styles of hotels as a sliding scale between the traditional Balinese approach and a modern international conventional hotel and everything in between.
There are many Legian Hotels located right on the beach offering a kind of cottage or bungalow set up as well as a main building of hotel rooms. This is a common set up in Bali and the effect is very relaxing with a selection of different room options meaning you can select a basic room in a nice resort and pay only a small amount or if you would like a sea front room with a private garden and other luxury facilities and services then you can pay a little extra and receive the exclusive services and facilities.
Facilities in hotels in Legian vary from place to place but you should receive air conditioning, a mini bar, a television usually with international channels, an international phone line, access to a safe and hot and cold water in an en suite bathroom. Almost all Legian hotels have at least one swimming pool, which is always located in a premiere position such as by the seafront or in the garden areas. There is usually either a close by tropical bar or a swim up bar meaning you don't have to leave the pool to order a tropical cocktail or a conventional drink. There is often a spa offering Balinese massage, Javanese cream baths and other treatments like nail care, reflexology and facials. Generally if you go for a large Legian hotel then you will have more of the hotel facilities such as multiple bars, restaurants and pools as well as a spa and larger grounds. There will also be more services such as activities tours with he larger hotels. The smaller Legian Hotels are generally quieter and more tranquil with only a few people staying in each on with only one pool and bar so it just depends on what you are looking for. In Legian the hotel diversity is such that everyone should be able to find what they are looking for.
