Alila Manggis is an alternative luxury resort located up the east coast of Bali away from the hustle and bustle of the southern touristy areas. Manggis is located in the region of Karangasem where there is a smaller and more sophisticated tourism scene. It is possible to get excellent dinning in the restaurants in the main area of Karangasem but you will be staying in Manggis which is located right on the beach with the Mount Agung which is the most sacred mountains in Bali situated directly behind the hotel. Alila Manggis is a modern luxury resort with excellent facilities and gorgeous rooms, resort like this are fairly common in the south of Bali but are not as easy to come by in the north east of thee island.It is one of the Alila hotels all of which are of a very high quality which has developed an excellent repetition for the company. Alila Manggis is certainly no exception to this with an incredible location amongst the coconut groves that lead to the beach and a completely unchanged beautiful coastline with a backdrop of tropical forests and mountains. The culture is also the traditional slow moving Balinese culture that is still in its original state and is a joy to experience in this environment.
The design of Alila Manggis is in sync with the other Alila resorts and displays that excellent combination of modern luxury with traditional inspirations in and outside the rooms and in every aspect of the hotel, the effect of this style is both luxurious and enchanting for a very comfortable stay. The rooms are not overly decorated but are a stylish and refined level of aesthetics, Balinese color schemes have been adopted with the use of orange and earthy shades as well as stained hard woods all tempered by excellent lighting. With only 54 rooms and two suites, Alila Manggis is an intimate quiet little resort located in this area of total paradise, this set up is ideal for couples and honeymooners who are looking for peace and tranquility during there time in Bali. All of the rooms look out towards the ocean and swimming pool that is set amidst the palms of the grove, with an open front that is made of the traditional thatching materials and can be closed in the evening and night to prevent mosquitoes from entering. Mosquitoes are not as common in this area as they are in the south meaning it is generally fine to leave your open front open all night.
The facilities include a gorgeous spa that is located close to the beach and provides a whole array of traditional and international treatments. There sis also a gorgeous swimming pool that is reminiscent of a lake and is located right on the beach. There are also a whole select of activities such as water sports including diving and snorkels as well as simple trekking and mountain biking.
